As promised, Anonymous hacktivists have launched OpNorthKorea. The hackers believe North Korea is becoming a threat to peace and freedom, so they’ve initiated this hack campaign.

So far, several high-profile websites have been targeted, including the Korean Central News Agency, Pyongyang University of Science and Technology, state-owned North Korean airline Air Koryo, and the Korea Sports Fund, Hackers News Bulletin reports.

The hackers have also launched distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks against a few media organizations. In addition, they’ve defaced several Chinese government websites.

At the time of writing, most of the sites are still defaced or offline.

A few hours ago, the South Korean government issued a cyber security alert after a number of government websites, including the one of the country’s presidency, were defaced by hackers claiming to be part of Anonymous.

However, Anonymous Korea has denied any involvement in the attacks.

Some have pointed the finger at North Korea, considering that some of the messages posted on the defaced sites praised North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
