The Infinitives want to show off their hacking powers

A faction of the hacker collective wanted to show that institutions which hire hackers to protect their networks have no chance against their attacks. To prove this, they took down the official website of the CapitalOne Bank.

The Hacker News informs us that the site posted a message that claimed they were going through a maintenance procedure but according to a Pastebin notification, the page was shut down as a result of a Distributed Denial of Service attack.

“ya know.. every guy Fawkes day companies go hire the best white hat hackers to protect them against attackers like us lol.. so dont beat your self's up if nothen was defaced or taken down by ddos.. we still doxed a bunch of people lol! congratulate your self's! Anonymous dident fail we succeeded and we will never fail,” read the statement.

The Infinitives, as they call themselves, also published the details of a few people, including some bank directors, judges and former SEC commissioners. The list features names such as Michael Bloomberg, the mayor of New York and Carlos Slim Helu, one of the richest men in the world.

The data includes names, addresses, emails, phone and fax numbers, associates, income and info on their family members. Some might say it's not much, but it's certainly enough to bombard the victims with emails, phone calls and maybe even some clever phishing campaigns.

“So im just saying good job every one.. today was a good day XD and lets do it again next year!” says a member of The Infinitives.

This is not the first time when bankers and other execs have their personal information made public as a result of a hacking operation. Even if Facebook or Fox News were not taken down as it was originally planed, Anonymous and their supporters are keeping themselves very busy these days, releasing to the public anything they can lay their virtual hands on.
