14 DAY TRIAL // Many Italians oppose the construction of a US Navy Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) station in Niscemi, Sicily. Even Anonymous hackers have joined the protests.
Hacktivists of Anonymous Italy have leaked several emails sent to Italian government officials regarding the MUOS project.
The hackers highlight the studies conducted by Dr. Massimo Zucchetti, a professor at the Polytechnic University of Turin. The professor warned that building the MUOS near the town of Niscemi could have devastating consequences for both the people living there and the environment.
“As anti-militarists, we think it is unworthy and disgusting what the Italian State is doing,” Anonymous Italy stated.
The emails leaked by the hacktivists appear to have been sent to representatives of Italy’s Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Interior. The attack is part of the campaign known as Operation Green Rights (OpGreenRights).
