In continuation of Operation Megaupload, started after US authorities shut down the popular file-sharing site and arrested its administrators, Anonymous hackers targeted CBS, the TV network’s official website, and Universal Music.

“Anonymous Deletes CBS.com, Takes Down Universal Music. All in a day's work, it seems,” read a tweet on the hacktivist collective’s main news channel.

Gizmodo reported that after the announcement had been made, CBS’s website was apparently erased completely.

However, later reports provided by PCMag indicate that the attackers utilized DNS poisoning to redirect the site’s traffic to another server, making it look completely erased. At the time of writing, CBS.com is back online, but Universal Music is still unavailable.

Operation Megaupload is considered by some the largest and most successful Anonymous operation ever. The list of victims includes the FBI, Department of Justice, the White House, RIAA, MPAA, French piracy watchdog HADOPI, and many others.
