“Hacked system. The POPE is not welcome, out out!!!!!” read the message posted by Anonymous Hispano on the defaced sites of the Archdiocese of Mexico and the one of the Institute of Communication and Philosophy.

CyberHaber informs that the data breaches represented a form of protest against Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to Mexico, scheduled for today. Both sites were targeted for supporting the head of the Roman Catholic church.

Anonymous accuses the ruling party that it intentionally planned the Pope’s visit right before the July 1 presidential elections.

The hacktivists feat that politicians will make everything seem “wonderful” and representatives of the church will not get to see the violence and poverty that dominate Mexico.

At press time both websites were restored and functioning properly.
