Anonymous hackers are not happy with the way the Nauruan government has handled a riot that took place at the island’s processing center last week. As a result, they’ve launched an attack against the government.

The Guardian reports that the hacktivists first took aim at CenpacNet, the state’s official Internet provider. The government suspended all Internet access outside of official use following the attack which impacted emails and government systems.

Later, the hackers took down the government’s website. Officials refused to comment on the incident.

Anonymous stepped in after the Nauruan president urged “strong and able men” to help police in preventing the rioters from escaping the center.

The processing center has been almost completely destroyed. Around 150 asylum seekers have been reportedly charged over the riot.
