At the beginning of July, a video that shows Hawthorne Police officers fatally shooting a Rottweiler dog went viral.

The Hawthorne Police have been heavily criticized by people from all around the world, some of which, according to CBS Los Angeles, even made death threats.

Anonymous hackers have also stepped in, publishing a video in which they threaten the police department.

“That is unacceptable. Police of Hawthorne you must know that you are our primary target. This matter will not remain unresolved,” the hacktivists said.

After the video was posted on YouTube last week, Hawthorne Police representatives said they took the threat seriously and called in a team of security experts to secure their systems.

The Hawthorne Police’s official website was hacked several days ago. The site was taken offline shortly after the breach and it has been down ever since.
