A couple of weeks ago, Anonymous hackers leaked documents allegedly stolen from the computers of Giuseppe Scopelliti, the president of Italy’s Calabria region, as part of a campaign called Operation Italy. The campaign continues with another massive leak.

This time, the hacktivists have targeted Roberto Maroni, currently the governor of the Lombardy region, and former Interior Minister. They accuse the official of being a “one big corrupted son of a gun.”

They say he has allowed Ukrainian individuals involved in the distribution of child molestation materials to launder their criminal proceeds through Lombardy banks. The hacktivists also accuse him of not doing anything to stop criminal cartels.

The hackers have leaked a 368Mb archive file that contains close to 500 documents, including a copy of Maroni’s passport. In addition to the archive that stores all the files, 22 images have been published on imgur.com to provide a preview.

The information has been made public on at least two websites.

“Tell us about your secret affairs with Aiello mafia and all the other nasty things people will find out today without your NOBLE consent,” Anonymous wrote next to the leaked data on cyberguerrilla.org.

“Drink expensive wine, drive expensive car pay no TAX and enjoy life while Lombardy suffers from all kinds of criminal wars and corruption you BOB spread across the regional authorities,” they added.

According to the hackers, Operation Italy is far from being over. They plan on targeting the presidents of several Italian regions, including Sicilia, Toscana, Campania and Puglia.

“Corruption is spread across the land of Romulus, this cancer has to be put an end to. They are disease so meet the cure,” Anonymous members stated.
