14 DAY TRIAL // A few days ago, Anonymous members initiated OpKiwiFreedom, a campaign aimed at the New Zealand government. In the first phase of the operation, the hackers have doxed several members of parliament (MPs) responsible for passing the controversial Government Communications Security Bureau and Related Legislation Amendment Bill.
The new bill gives the GCSB powers to spy on New Zealanders on behalf of various agencies.
“Fellow Anonymous members, you know what to do. Citizens of New Zealand send them your love,” the hackers wrote next to the names of the officials whose personal information they’ve published.
“This is just the beginning,” they added.
The targeted officials are John Key, Peter Dunne, John Archibald Banks, Bill English, Christopher Francis Finlayson, Paula Bennett, Eric Roy, Ian McKelvie, Colin King, Dr Nick Smith, Judith Collins, Anne Tolley, Claudette Hauiti and Jacqui Dean.
The leaked information consists of addresses, websites, phone numbers, email addresses, social media accounts and details on their families. None of the published details appear to represent sensitive data.
