A few hours ago, Anonymous hackers have announced taking down the official website of World Wrestling Entertainment (wwe.com).

Anonymous Indonesia hackers, who made the announcement on Twitter, said they launched an attack against the site to raise awareness of the current situation in Syria.

“World Wrestling Entertainment Down wwe.com/ Time To HELP SYRIA,” the hacktivists wrote on Twitter.

The site was disrupted for around 45 minutes. Currently, it appears to be working properly.

The eyes of the world are on Syria these days after the recent suspected chemical weapons attack near Damascus. While some hacktivists, including the notorious Syrian Electronic Army, support the country, others are against it.

A former US official has warned that Syria might retaliate against a potential military attack with cyberattacks.
