An Anonymous hacker that uses the online moniker W1n5t0n claims to have breached the systems of Latvia’s State Employment Agency (nva.gov.lv). From the agency’s systems, the hacker has leaked the details of over 3,000 users.

The leaked information consists of usernames, email addresses and passwords, including ones of administrators.

While some of the passwords are hashed, most of them are in clear text, which means that the Latvian users whose credentials have been leaked are at risk of having their accounts hijacked.

As far as the hacker’s motives are concerned, it appears he has targeted the website of Latvia’s State Employment Agency simply because it’s a government organization.

At the time of writing, there’s no statement from the State Employment Agency regarding the incident. They should be aware of the breach since the hacker sent them a message on Twitter shortly after leaking the information.
