Anonymous hackers worldwide are known for protesting against governments by mass defacing websites to raise awareness. Now it’s the turn of hacktivists part of Anonymous China.

Cyber War News informs that the hackers defaced a number of 400 government and commercial websites to state their discontent.

“All these years, the Chinese Communist government has subjected its People to unfair laws and unhealthy processes. Dear Chinese government, you are not infallible, today websites are hacked, tomorrow it will be your vile regime that will fall,” read a message on the defaced pages.

Anonymous representatives also posted a message addressed to the Chinese people, urging them not to lose hope because they were not alone in the battle against the “tyranny of the regime.”

The hacktivists also posted a message on Pastebin, advising other hackers to join their ranks.

“In the defaces and leaks in this day, we demonstrate our revolt to the Chinese system. It has to stop! We aren’t asking you for nothing, just saying to protest, to revolt yourself, to be the free person you always want to be!” they wrote.

“So, we are writing this message to tell you that you should protest, you should revolt yourself protesting and who has the skills for hacking and programming and design and other 'computer things' come to our IRC #GlobalRevolution.”

Oddly enough, at the time of writing, many of the commercial websites that were affected by the breach seemed to be restored, but the ones hosted on .gov domains still displayed the image and text posted by the hackers.

Furthermore, the hackers also added a page to one of the government websites, which contains a detailed tutorial on how users can hide their identities. They also alert users to take note of the fact that their every move is carefully monitored.
