After the announcements of KDE, KDE64 and Fluxbox editions of the current Linux Mint 8 (Helena) operating system, Clement Lefebvre and the Linux Mint community are once again proud to present today the first release candidate of the upcoming Linux Mint 8 LXDE Community Edition. Being powered by Linux kernel 2.6.31, the new edition includes X.Org 7.4, Openbox 3.4.7.2 and PCManFM 0.5.2. The Linux Mint 8 RC1 LXDE Edition has been created for people who want a fast, lightweight and good-looking operating system, for their antique hardware.

Highlights of Linux Mint 8 RC1 LXDE:

· Based on Linux Mint 8 (Helena);
· Linux kernel 2.6.31;
· X.Org 7.4;
· Openbox 3.4.7.2 window manager;
· PCManFM 0.5.2 file manager;
· Exaile music player;
· Improved Linux Mint Menu.

The Linux Mint 8 LXDE developers recommend the following system requirements:

· A modern 32-bit processor;
· 256 MB of RAM;
· 3 GB free hard disk space (for installation);
· VGA video card capable of at least 800x600 resolution;
· A CD-ROM drive or a USB port.

Hello Friends ,

This OS is the best available option in Linux world today .... I tried this OS yesterday and yes it did give a strong competition to Microsoft windows xp and the interface of tis OS is so easy that even a noob can try it out easily ....

So guys don't wait for the final version just try this awesome Mint flavor ......
