For years, Jay Z struggled to make a remake of “Annie” happen, but the odds weren’t in his favor until a couple of years ago when he met actress Quvenzhane Wallis, and everything just clicked. The first trailer for it is now out.

As usual, you can see it in full and in HD above.

Wallis came to international attention thanks to the indie “Beasts of the Southern Wild” and, the moment she was confirmed for the lead in “Annie,” buzz around the film started to build. When Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz and Rose Byrne also joined the cast, anticipation reached unprecedented levels.

With the first trailer, we finally get to see what’s all the fuss around the remake of this popular musical. Produced by Jay Z and Will Smith, the film is directed by Will Gluck and is set in modern-day Harlem.

Diaz plays the orphanage owner and she is so ghetto that it’s painful obvious that her character is meant for comic relief. Annie is the little girl whom the millionaire Benjamin Stacks (Foxx) wants to “adopt” to make himself look good in the press, which, in turn, will help him move up the ladder in politics.

“Annie” will be out in theaters in December, which makes sense since it looks like the perfect kind of Christmasy movie. See the trailer and drop me a line in the comments section with your thoughts on it.
