Anne Hathaway defends Catwoman costume in “The Dark Knight Rises”: you haven’t seen anything yet

A few days ago, after weeks of unrest and speculation, Warner Bros. released the first picture of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle / Catwoman, riding the Batpod, in “The Dark Knight Rises.” The pic generated a very harsh reaction in fans, who objected to the costume – but Anne is now saying they shouldn’t jump to conclusions.

Fans weren’t the only ones to take a profound dislike to what they believed was the Catwoman costume, where the cat ears had been replaced by a pair of very sci-fi looking eyeglasses.

MTV recently caught up with the actress and, surprisingly, she revealed that she was very much aware of the poor reception the photo had in most circles, including with MTV too.

“I was not going to admit it: I asked someone to send me a few reactions [to the photo]. And I happen to know that MTV’s reaction was ‘meh’,” Anne told MTV in a brief interview.

The e-zine notes that the reaction was not “meh” per se, though it didn’t come far from it either. MTV and all the others who thought the Catwoman suit was a disappointment needn’t worry, Anne said.

“What I am happy to say is, if you didn’t like the photo, you only see about a 10th of what that suit can do. And if you did like the photo, you have excellent taste,” the actress explained.

And this is not the only topic that Anne is being vocal about: in another recent interview, she also addressed the massive media attention the latest Batman film is getting while still shooting in Pittsburgh.

Paparazzi and insiders on the set keep leaking photos and footage of the scenes that are being shot, and this does nothing but spoil the experience of seeing the film in finished form.

“It’s disappointing. I think everyone feels a slight frustration with it because those stills so undercut the work that’s being done. I mean, honestly, like, wait till you see this movie. Chris [Nolan] is doing insane things in it,” Anne says.

“And it’s gonna be marvelous and it’s gonna be way beyond what anyone imagines that it could be. You can’t imagine the things that he’s doing, at least I couldn’t until I read the script and I was like, ‘You’re really? Okay, you’re going there!’” adds the actress.
