Apparently, Benedict Cumberbatch was the only one who got it right

Sarah Jessica Parker and Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour stopped by Seth Meyers the other night to discuss Monday’s MET Gala 2014, which was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC and raised a lot of money for the establishment.

Because they were on hand, Meyers used the chance to find out more about how the men should have dressed for the occasion: this year, the costume ball was in honor of designer Charles James and was white-tie only.

However, as Wintour graciously explains in the video below, few men actually complied with the dress code, though there were some who came pretty close, Kanye West and Bradley Cooper among them.

Jake Gyllenhaal, Meyers himself, and Hugh Jackman weren’t as lucky, Wintour says. However, the one who did comply with the dress code 100 percent was, perhaps not surprisingly at all, British actor Benedict Cumberbatch.

You have to watch the video below to hear the ladies in the audience scream when his photo comes up, looking all dashing and handsome, on the screen. It also includes a look inside the exclusive gala, with the two ladies talking about what happens when celebrities arrive and how much physical contact and chit-chatter is “allowed.”

For a woman with such a harsh reputation, Mrs. Wintour is absolutely adorable.
