The trial for Anna Nicole Smith's body is now underway. So far, her lover and presumably would-have-been-future-husband Howard K. Stern, her mother, Virgie Arthur and her former lover, Larry Birkhead have taken the stand and testified in the case. All the big guns have been brought to court, mouths have opened to make startling 'confessions', unknown videos surfaced from all sides, fingers have been pointed and names have been called right from the stand.
No disrespect meant to the court (only to the 'players' of the game, the three mentioned above) it's a genuine circus, equipped with laughter, tragicomic moments, fake tears and the works. The thought that all this happens because a couple of people cannot agree on where to bury Anna makes one shudder - what will they do when it will come to share the money she left behind?
The latest developments in the case are as follows: the court viewed several videos of Anna, shot by 'Entertainment Tonight', that were never aired, Stern admitted that he is broke and that he lived off Anna's money, Birkhead claimed he repeatedly tried to rescue the former model from herself and from Stern, her mother stated that it was Stern who tore their relationship and set them at each other's throat.
But the most shocking moment of yesterday's hearing was none of the above (because we already knew that all these things would eventually be uttered), but a clip that had Anna saying that her father had raped her. Plus, she added, her mother knew and did nothing to put an end to the situation. 'You want to hear all the things she did to me? You want to hear all the things she let my father do to me, or my brother do to me? Or my sister? All the beatings and the whippin's and the rape? That's my mother. That's my mom!', Smith was heard saying.
Of course, Virgie denied all knowledge of rape or beatings, saying that Stern had put those words in Anna's mouth because they were such good friends ('we used to paint our nails together') and he couldn't stand that. When Stern's turn came, he also defended himself by saying that Anna had a will of her own and he never interfered with it because he knew he had no chance of winning. Regarding the model's alleged drug abuse, he told the judge: 'It's not like Anna was medicated all the time. It's not like she couldn't talk...'. Minutes later, he changed stories and added that, at times, Anna was more impaired than how it can be seen in the video below.
The judge will rule on Friday on who gets to bury Anna Nicole. Stay tuned for more.
