14 DAY TRIAL // Anna Kendrick is one of the hottest young actresses of today and, by “hot,” we mean a delightful combination of real talent, great looks, smarts, and a very healthy sense of humor. With these qualities, you’d think men would be flocking to ask her out but she swears she hasn’t been hit on in about 5 years.
Now that’s a crying shame. Anna is the cover girl of the July 2014 issue of Elle magazine, but she is also featured in a lengthy interview and a gorgeous photospread. Elle has released excerpts from the interview, with the star touching on topics like dating and divorce.
She’s not divorced, no, because she was never married. She’s also very much single right now, after breaking up with Edgar Wright last year. Moreover, “honest to God,” she hasn’t been hit on since the movie “Up in the Air” came out, which was in 2009.
That movie landed her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She didn’t win it but, on the upside, the critical praises heaped on her and the nomination alone proved to the world that she was more than just that girl who appeared in “Twilight” as one of Bella’s human friends. She was an actress to look out for.
Anna speaks very matter-of-factly on her career and whether she’s used her girl next door charm to go up the ladder in Hollywood. While her fans believe she has an extraordinary amount of it (charm, that is), she tries to pay no attention to that.
“I’ve never felt like I’ve exactly traded on my looks. When I was a teenager, I was an ultralate bloomer, and my mom would say it was a blessing, because it means you never have to wonder if guys are only interested in you because you’ve got [breasts],” she says.
“I would have been thrilled if guys were interested in me because of my [breasts]! Similarly, I think I’m lucky that I’ve never had a crisis about whether the only reason I’m successful is because I’m crazy hot. It’s not something that crosses my mind,” Anna continues.
If you ask her fans, she is “crazy hot,” but not only in the sense that she has killer looks. The fact that she’s very smart and shamelessly funny is what makes her this “crazy hot.”
Kendrick also talks about divorce and how she’s not necessarily of the opinion that a marriage should be for life, especially if it’s not a happy one. Her parents got divorced when she was 15 and they are the living example for her that, sometimes, breaking up is the best thing to do.
“I hate when people think you're broken because your parents are divorced. And I really reject the idea of staying together for the kids. If they're growing up in a house that's not healthy, it's better to know that's not the model of what marriage should be,” Kendrick says.
