Ann Curry was more or less fired from The Today Show (in the sense that she was let out of her contract after a very short while) and was made into the fall guy for the poor ratings. She will get the chance to have her side of the story out there as well, according to a new report.

Rumors online and in the print media claim that the reason why NBC bosses had Curry go was because Matt Lauer insisted on it, constantly telling them he had no chemistry with her, which, in turn, led to a decrease in ratings.

When she announced her departure from the show, Curry kept it very diplomatic, refusing to point fingers or lay the blame with anyone. However, she did say that she wished she’d been given more time to prove what she was capable of.

According to a new report in the print issue of The National Enquirer (via the Daily Mail), she will have more than ample room to elaborate on that.

Various publishers are literally throwing money at Curry to tell her story in a new book. Of course, she’s also expected to dish on Lauer and her relationship with him, which, we might imagine, will not please him at all, if she agrees to it.

It all boils down to whether Curry wants to feel herself vindicated for the wrong she’s been done.

“The NBC brass pulled the rug out from under Ann and made her the fall guy for the show's bad ratings. Now publishers are desperate for her to spill everything,” a source claiming to be close to the situation is quoted as saying.

Admittedly, she might even agree to dish on Lauer’s extramarital affair, of which Ann knew everything.

“Ann knew Matt cheated on his wife during the winter Olympics in Vancouver in 2010 and also while he was working the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Torino, Italy,” the insider adds.

Considering the kind of media attention that Curry’s firing got, and the interest of her fans in Lauer’s supposed machinations to see her gone, it doesn’t come as a surprise to hear that publishers would pay a fortune for a tell-all book from her.

Whether she’ll really do that remains to be seen. However, knowing how she’s never been anything but beyond reproach, chances are she will pass on the opportunity.
