Ann Coulter calls Barack Obama a “retard,” comes under heavy fire on Twitter

Ann Coulter is again in hot water after tweeting that current President Barack Obama is a “retard” after the third Presidential Debate, which took place last night. Many are unhappy with her choice of words.

Coulter was live tweeting the Debate, as were many others as well. She alone though used the term “retard” to refer to either candidate, The Hollywood Reporter writes.

“I highly approve of Romney's decision to be kind and gentle to the retard,” the Conservative wrote after the debate.

She’s one of the few to think Romney won the debate, as the consensus is that Obama won this round.

As was to be expected, her rushed comment immediately drew attention and, in almost not time, very harsh criticism.

It’s not so much her attack on Obama that’s getting many hot under the collar but rather her word of choice: “retard” is not a term that should be thrown around like that, regardless what she thinks of Obama or not.

THR sums up some of the most original responses to Coulter’s tweet.

“Ann Coulter died of prostate cancer in 2002. Her Twitter account's a sentient emu skeleton with a swatch of eyelid skin stretched over it,” comedian Patton Oswalt wrote.

“If Ann Coulter's calling the President a 'retard' it means he won/is going to win. She's our un-pettable Punxsutawney Phil,” he added.

“not ever shocked by ‪@anncoulter‬. my bar for her is set so low that it is, ironically, in the depths of hell,” model Chrissy Teigen also wrote.

“Local news is reporting on a fatal ballooning accident and tragically neither victim was Ann Coulter,” “Modern Family” executive producer Danny Zuker wrote on the same social networking website.

These are just a few of the many who spoke up to show Coulter the error of her ways in using the term “retard.” Then again, THR underlines, this isn’t the first time she pulls a stunt like this so, by all means, it will probably not be the last either.
