Animal Crossing: Wild World features a very minimal plot. The objective of the game is to pay off a debt to Tom Nook, who allows the player to move into a house he owns. If the mortgage is paid off, the player's house will expand until upstairs, left, right, center and back rooms are included. This is slightly different from the Nintendo Gamecube version, in which the finished house only consisted of a basement, a main room and an attic. While paying off the debt, players can do a variety of optional tasks, including interacting with other villagers and filling the catalog of the things they have, like furniture, fish, clothes and stationary.

Animal Crossing: Wild World makes use of several of the Nintendo DS' features, including the touch screen, dual screens and internal clock. The touch screen is used for menu navigation and interacting with the surrounding area, including movement, using tools, talking to other villagers, entering buildings, picking up items, etc. The dual screens are used to display the overworld on the touch screen and the sky on the top screen, which varies depending on the circumstances.

HINTS

ACTIONS

Determine if animals are home

Every day at 6 p.m., the animals that are in their homes will turn their house lights on. This makes it easier to know if they are inside or outside.

Curing sick neighbors

When one of your neighbors is ill, you do not have to give them medicine. Open your main gate, and then close it again. They will be cured from their sickness.

Stop animals from moving

Talk to animals when they are in their house, and their things are in boxes. Keep chatting until they say something like, "I'll have to think this over..." or "Maybe I should stay..." This works well with Mabel (the bear) or Ribbot (the robotic frog).

When a neighbor is moving (there are boxes in his house), start talking and choose "Don't go" or "That can't be" until he starts saying "Maybe I'll reconsider" or something similar.

If you do not want one of your friends to move, write a letter to them, saying how much you do not want them to do that. Do not send the letter. If they do move, try sending the letter, which will not be sent, eventually, as Pelly will ask you to take it back. Usually, not sending the letter works. Keep it, and that will most likely stop your friend from moving.
