Satoru Iwata, the president and chief executive officer of Nintendo, says that the upcoming New Leaf installment in the Animal Crossing series will get all DLC for free.

All those players who have bought the game will be able to download extra characters and new areas after the title is launched.

The executive also believes that paid DLC would not fit with the wholesome image of the series.

Speaking to investors, Iwata says, “That sort of element is absolutely not being added.”

The new Animal Crossing game will include even more customization options than previous titles in the series and will offer the same core mechanics that fans have become accustomed to.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf will be launched exclusively on the 3DS handheld on November 8 in Japan, and Western players will get access to the game during the first or second quarter of next year.
