On Friday, game publisher Rovio Mobile announced the release of the final version of its Angry Birds game for handsets running under Google's Android operating system. Following a period of beta availability, during which the solution was available for download via the Android Market, Angry Birds was release in gold via GetJar, and market a success for the company.

Over one million downloads were announced for the mobile game's first day of availability on Google's Android operating system, something that caused quite an issue with GetJar's servers, it seems.

Due to the increase traffic, GetJar was hit by brief outages on Friday, and those Android users interested in getting the game could not access the download page.

“The page you are looking for is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later,” was the message Android users would receive at that time.

Here's what the company had to say on this: “The demand exceeded all expectations, and degraded performance on getjar.com. For some time, the site was inaccessible due to the load. […] [We] couldn’t handle 8x to 10x higher peak load.”

The high popularity this game enjoys on the mobile space is something that no one can deny. The game was available on iOS long before the Android version was released.

Undoubtedly, the mobile application would attract even more Android users on its side, especially since the final version of the game was released for free for them.

The lite flavor of Angry Birds was released for free too, but the gold version was expected to be a paid flavor.

However, the game developer released it with ads inside, thus making it free, though it also announced that it would soon offer users the possibility to pay for the game so as to enjoy an ad-free version of Angry Birds.

Although the mobile game was released initially only via GetJar, it can be found in the Android Market too, also as a free download. Users can also download it from Softpedia, via this link.
