A new flavor of Angry Birds for Android is now available for download, namely version 1.4.2, game publisher Rovio announced officially today.

According to the company, the new release of their highly addictive free game brings to Android handsets a nice range of new features, along with a series of new levels.

“Good news! We have just released the first big update for Angry Birds on Android,” the company announced via a recent post on its website.

One of the main new features of the new Angry Birds 1.4.2 is support for QVGA graphics, which expands the availability of the game to even more Android devices than before.

“Angry Birds Android now supports QVGA graphics, so owners of devices with this compact screen size should find the game running perfectly on their phones,” the company notes.

Moreover, the new flavor of the Android game comes with a series of new levels included into the mix (a number of 45 of them, to be more precise, as a recent article on Android Guys reads).

Among them, the game developer highlights the episode called “The Big Setup.”

“Also included is the episode The Big Setup, which pits the birds against the fiendish construction yard operated by the pigs. The total number of levels is now up to 195 on the Android platform,” the company stated.

At the same time, the company stressed upon the fact that the new version of Angry Birds for Android comes with a series of bug fixes too.

“We have fixed a number of issues that a lot of people experienced with Angry Birds on Android, including the blank screen issue on Android 1.6 devices, and the white textures appearing on certain devices,” Rovio stated.

All in all, it seems that the company is committed to providing Android users with an enhanced experience with its mobile game.

Rovio also noted that the new game version was made available for download via GetJar or Android Market.

However, the owners of Android devices running under OS version 1.6 or higher will also find Angry Birds available on Softpedia, via this link.
