Today, Rovio took the wraps off its upcoming Angry Birds game flavor called Angry Birds Star Wars, built in collaboration with Lucasfilm Ltd.

The mobile game publisher promises a new, highly appealing experience with the upcoming release, in line with that offered by previous game versions.

Those users who have already played Angry Birds, or the Angry Birds Space flavor that was released earlier this year, will certainly appreciate the new game variant even more.

The Star Wars saga has come to Angry Birds, and not in the form of costumes, but transforming the popular birds into Star Wars characters of their own.

“They are not Angry Birds dressed up as Star Wars characters. They are characters in their own right,” Paul Southern, vice president of licensing and consumer products marketing for Lucasfilm Ltd., told USA Today.

Android users who download and install the Angry Birds Star Wars game starting with November 8 when it becomes available will meet a Red Bird transformed into Luke Skywalker, as well as other birds turned into Chewbacca, Princess Leia, Han Solo and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

As expected, the pigs will be turned into negative characters from the movie as well, and the game will feature a Darth Vader, as well as “pig-esque stormtroopers,” as Southern puts it.

The new game will use the same physics as the aforementioned Angry Birds Space, and is expected to become even more popular than that game release.

“We wanted this to feel like one of the biggest, if not the biggest, entertainment launches of the year,” Rovio's Andrew Stalbow told USA Today.

Rovio also focused on providing users with a great sound and music experience with the new game. The company has already published a video teaser for the title, and more details on the matter should be unveiled in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
