The “Angry Birds Space” madness is at its peak as the game has reached almost all mobile operating systems available on the market with only a few exceptions.

The big loser here seems to be Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform, which has yet to receive its version of the game. In the meantime, Rovio launched its “Angry Birds Space” game on Android and iOS platforms, as well as Mac and PC.

However, NOOK users haven’t been skipped. Barnes&Noble made it possible, so those who purchased a NOOK Color or NOOK Tablet device will be able to download and install the game starting today.

Unfortunately, the game is a bit steeper than expected. Even though NOOK tablets are powered by Android platform, Barnes&Noble usually customizes Google’s software for their products specific designs.

This is why users won’t be able to run B&N apps on any Android tablet. It appears that these tablets have specific design requirements which developers need to follow in order to make their apps compatible with NOOK Tablet and NOOK Color.

Barnes&Noble probably thought it can monetize on Rovio’s highly-acclaimed Angry Birds franchise and decided to put a higher price on their latest addition to series, “Angry Birds Space.”

Currently, the game is available for free via Google Play Store, but it’s supported by ads. There’s also an ad-free “Angry Birds Space” version, which can be purchased for $2.99.

Well, that narrows it for the B&N version price tag as well, as the game is available for NOOK Tablet and NOOK Color for the same $2.99 amount.

Barnes&Noble is probably offering its customers the same ad-free version of the game, but skipped the ad-supported variant, which is now available for download via Google Play store.

Those who wish to purchase “Angry Birds Space” for NOOK Tablet and NOOK Color can head over to Barnes & Noble store directly from their devices. Make sure you check out our in-depth review of the game here.
