Video game developer Rovio has announced that the very popular Angry Birds series will make the move into the Star Wars universe in November when a new edition of the game gets launched on mobile devices powered by iOS and by Android.

The various Angry Birds characters will take on the roles of the well-known Jedi and their enemies from the series.

The role of Luike Skywalker will apparently be played by the red Angry Bird.

Rovio says that the gameplay will be quite similar to what players already know from Angry Birds Space and confirmed areas include Tatooine and Hoth.

The game will also spawn a new merchandising line created by Rovio and LucasArts.

Moreover, Angry Birds Star Wars will probably be launched on home console and on the PC during 2013.

LucasArts has another two projects in development based on the universe, Star Wars 1313 and the yet unconfirmed Star Wars: Squad Assault.
