14 DAY TRIAL // Finnish game development studio, Rovio Mobile Ltd., has released what it calls a ‘major update’ to the desktop installment of their insanely popular puzzle title, Angry Birds, bringing the game to version 1.6.2.
Immediately available from the Mac App Store as a free update for existing players, and a $4.99 download for newcomers, Angry Birds 1.6.2 features the latest episodic content delivered months ago on mobile platforms - Ham ‘Em High and Mine and Dine.
The two episodes combined deliver a total of 60 new levels for Angry Birds gamers to enjoy.
The developers also made a few, unspecified improvements to the game. The official changelog reads:

- 2 new episodes, Ham 'Em High and Mine & Dine! - A whopping 60 new levels! - Technical improvements!
Rovio describes the latest episode, saying “Mining and Dining with the burrowing piggies continues! With a bottomless appetite, the bad piggies have burrowed deep in underground caverns to hide the eggs they stole from you.”
The studio instructs players on how to achieve the best results, telling them to use the landscape and geology to their advantage “to chase the pigs out of their hiding holes, gather rare gems, and retrieve the eggs.”
Like all software redeemed from the Mac App Store, Angry Birds for Mac will require OS X 10.6.6 (Snow Leopard) or later. The game is also Lion-supported.
