The actor is still convinced he was arrested simply because he was famous

Alec Baldwin's war with the NYPD has just begun, and the officers who made the arrest didn't know what they were getting themselves into. The actor is determined to fight this thing all the way through and he's using his celebrity status to get his message across.

Page Six quotes Baldwin when he says “There is only one crime more serious in New York than riding a bike the wrong way down the street, and that’s terrorism,” hinting to the incident that took place earlier this week in New York, where he was taken into custody by police for riding a bicycle the wrong way into incoming traffic.

Actually, he was taken into custody in cuffs because he wasn't able to provide any identification when police wanted to present him with a summons. Add to that the fact that Baldwin was very abusive verbally towards the arresting officers, and you understand why he was thrown in the back of a police cruiser and taken to the precinct.

But Alec will still beat the drum and claim that this was just an arrest made because of his high public profile. He joked with the New York paper that “Now write this down carefully — as I was stepping out of my car tonight outside the Four Seasons, a delivery guy on a bike going the wrong way down the street rode right in front of me and my wife.”

“I joked to a police officer outside the restaurant, ‘There is only one crime worse in New York than riding a bike the wrong way down a street, and that’s terrorism.’ The police officer laughed,” the actor concludes, pointing out that people ride bikes the wrong way every day in New York City.

He goes on to reveal that the arresting officers knew who he was: “They recognized me immediately. I saw the white female cop whisper to the Hispanic cop about who I was, and then they handcuffed me.”

The matter is far from over though, as Baldwin has announced that he plans to take this matter to court, where he hopes he will get the justice he deserves “There’s a process hearing July 24, when all of this will come out,” he warns.

This isn't the first time that Alec Balwdin has complained about being a celebrity in New York and it's probably not going to be the last. He made headlines last year when he chased down a paparazzo and called him an anti-gay slur that sent the LGBT community into a frenzy.

The actor did promise earlier this year that he was done with public life and pondered a move to a more quiet location, but we have yet to see him leave New York in search of greener and presumably quieter pastures.
