After the fish he had caught has been approved by the IGFA, a fisherman has received confirmation for a $1 M (€760K) prize after reeling in a record-breaking tuna.

Guy Yocom of California participated in the “Hook A Million” contest by Mustad Hooks and brought in a 427-pound (193 kg) yellowfin tuna, surpassing the previous record by 22 pounds (10 kg).

He caught it 100 miles (160 km) south of Cabo San Lucas in Mexico in September 2012, Sport Fishing Mag writes. He set to be awarded the money over a period of 20 years.

He is photographed at the Fred Hall Show in Long Beach, when he has receive the first $20,000 (€15,300) installment.

Cabo is a great place for fishing, as I mentioned before. A 300 pound (136 kg) rare Louvar or Luvaras Imperialis was caught there last November, and stolen right from under the angler's eyes.
