The documentary about the life and death of the journalist Daniel Pearl is having some problems from the very onset. The action takes place in Pakistan, where the Wall Street reporter was kidnapped in 2002 and then decapitated, but it also spans to cover the moment in which his wife, Marianne, also a journalist, finds out about it and embarks on a desperate journey to find him.

The entire crew flew to Pakistan to begin production on the 'A Mighty Heart' film but, only days after it began, they had to shut down. According to a Pakistani newspaper, they were caught filming scenes in Karachi, Islamabad and the countryside, without obtaining permission from the government.

'No request by the filming unit to shoot in Pakistan had been made to the embassy', a statement from the minister said. It also stated that all the crews must go through the same procedures before filming in Pakistan and that any unauthorized attempt is deemed 'illegal and regrettable'.

An investigation has been launched as of today in order to establish whether the crew broke the law or not. Until it is finalized, shooting for 'A Mighty Heart' will be put on hold.
