Angelina Jolie has been and will probably always remain a very controversial figure precisely because she refuses to have the media know her every move and thus trespass on her personal life. Andrew Morton has an unauthorized biography on her out on book shelves now and it’s understandably spanned a series of very scandalous stories in the tabloids. Like the one now in InTouch, for instance.

The weekly claims that, aside from the problems Morton’s book have caused between Jolie and her life partner Brad Pitt because she never told him about the many affairs she had back in her youth days, it has also driven her and the kids apart. Now, more than ever, Jolie is throwing herself into her work, which makes it so that her kids get to see her even less than they did before. In fact, they are so estranged from her that they’re in the habit of calling their nanny “mom,” the tab says.

“In a slew of uncharacteristically personal interviews, Angelina Jolie has been telling the world what a ‘happy home’ she has, and how she makes a point of spending concentrated time with her six children, bragging that she makes them bacon and eggs every morning. But at the Claremont Hotel Club & Spa in Oakland – the California city where their dad, Brad Pitt, is filming Moneyball – Angelina’s sons Pax, 6, and Maddox, 9, seemed to feel otherwise. In the ‘club’ area of the hotel at around 3 p.m. on July 30, a witness reports, the boys chattered animatedly with a blond nanny, a bodyguard and two other young boys as the nanny ordered burgers and fries for them. ‘At one point, Maddox and Pax got into a brotherly spat over some ketchup,’ the witness recalls. ‘The nanny firmly said, “Mad, let Paxie have some ketchup.” Maddox said, “Mom, do I have to?” and Pax was whining, “Mom, make him give me some”’,” InTouch writes.

This may sound strange to outsiders, but those familiar with how things stand between Angelina and her children are not really that surprised. The whole thing about Angelina being very close to her children is a PR stunt meant to protect the spotless image she’s made for herself, the report further says. “Angelina is gone so much working or in meetings that the kids do spend most of their time during the day with the nannies. Publicly, Angelina would not like the hired help to be seen, but they are there and all of the kids are so attached to them, they are like family – whether Angelina wants to believe that or not,” a source close to the actress reveals for the same publication.

As we also noted a short while ago, tabloids instantly picked on the potential for gossip offered by the release of Morton’s book, with Star magazine even saying that it had seen and would run photos that would undoubtedly “tear [Angelina and Brad] apart!” (exclamation mark not ours).
