Word on the web and in all fashion-concerned circles is that actress Angelina Jolie has “quietly” signed on to be the next face of Emporio Armani, the giant fashion house. This is the same brand that is currently being endorsed by British soccer star David Beckham, who is featured in a series of incendiary ads next to wife Victoria. Bringing Becks and Angie together for the same campaign would be marketing heaven, and this is precisely what Armani aims to do, Ireland Online informs.

The ads that David did for Armani for the men’s underwear collection are probably the most well known in the history of the brand, and it’s not necessarily because they were plastered on the most significant buildings in major cities across the world. David Beckham, they say, can sell almost anything – and it is here that an explanation for the appeal of the ads is to be found. Now that Jolie too is on board with Armani, doing a campaign with the two would bring the fashion house the kind of exposure it could only dream of until now.

“When you have David Beckham and Angelina Jolie signed up to your fashion house it’s a no-brainer to link them up. They appeal to a diverse audience and a collaboration would create so much publicity it would push Armani head and shoulders above their rivals. There are a few contract issues to be addressed but marketing experts are being tasked with coming up with clever ideas for a print campaign.” an unnamed – but reportedly extremely reliable – source from within the fashion house tells the aforementioned publication.

There is a problem with the idea, though. While the shots with David and Victoria were “scorching hot” (as they have been described in the media), the same could not apply to the imminent rumored campaign with Becks and Angelina. Since the two are in serious, very committed relationships, the folks at Armani must come up with an idea that is appealing without being offending or detrimental to the family life of neither David nor Angelina. “The two are exceptionally beautiful on camera but both are in committed relationships so the advert would have to be [hot] without offending their partners.” the source explains.

As of now, none of this has yet been confirmed. However, fashion-oriented publications point out, even if there’s any truth to the rumor, chances of Armani making anything public before the first shots are ready are slim to none, since it would perhaps go for the surprise element with this one. Either way, keep an eye on this space for more on this.
