Angelina Jolie is no stranger to political rumors. Ever since she embarked on her humanitarian campaign, she's been billed as a possible contender for the Oval Office due to her increasing popularity in international political circles. Up until now, she's denied any such involvement, but now it seems she's ready.

In the December issue of Vanity Fair, Angelina Jolie hints for the first time that she's taking into consideration running for office and starting what could possibly be a very long and fruitful political career.

Angelina denied in previous interviews that she had any political aspirations, but she seems to have changed her mind

If previously she denied any thought about entering politics, now Angelina seems to be actually temped to step into the political ring: “When you work as a humanitarian, you are conscious that politics have to be considered. Because if you really want to make an extreme change, then you have a responsibility.”

At the moment, Angelina Jolie is splitting her time between her family, her movie career, and her position as UN High Commissioner for Refugees. She states simply that she is “open” to entering politics at this point.

It might have also something to do with the fact that she is considering ending her acting career and indeed her entire show business efforts. If she were to continue, she would only do it as a director, from behind the camera.

Jolie is still not clear what role she could play, but seems certain she wants to get into politics

There is still some uncertainty at this point for the actress who recently wed longtime partner Brad Pitt, as she claims that “I honestly don’t know in what role I would be more useful — I am conscious of what I do for a living, and that [could] make it less possible.”

The rest of the interview goes on to detail her secret marriage ceremony in the south of France and how much of an impact her children had in the end, shaping the nuptials after their own taste. Angelina points out that married life suits her: “It does feel different. It feels nice to be husband and wife.”

In previous interviews, husband Brad Pitt said something along the same lines, hinting that they both felt right about going all the way, despite the fact that they had been in a relationship for the last 10 years.

Now that Angelina is married, has children, and a strong career in humanitarian work, she actually is in the unique position to become a powerful competitor on the political stage. All she needs now are some powerful friends in some high places and maybe a little luck and she might make it into the final rounds of the race for the Oval Office.
