On the red carpet at the Oscars 2012, Angelina Jolie caused quite a media storm with her awkward, leggy pose that kept everybody talking for days on end. In a recent interview, she admits she had no idea of the “controversy” she generated.

As we also noted at the time, both on the red carpet and during the ceremony, Angelina made sure all eyes were on her, by contorting her body in an unnatural pose and sticking her leg out.

Called “Leg-Gate,” the incident even generated very hilarious Internet memes, in which the leg was inserted in some of the most famous pictures of all times, be they photos or paintings.

The leg even had its own Twitter page at some point and, believe it or not, it did not lack followers.

Asked about it by the Huffington Post, Angelina says she was hardly aware of the commotion.

She's said before that she's not in the habit of reading about herself in the press, especially since most of what's being written is a fabrication – and she's saying it again now.

“I honestly didn’t pay attention to it. You know what I mean? I don’t watch those TV shows and if I go online and see something about myself, I don’t click on it,” Angelina explains.

Similarly, the people in her entourage are also not the type that would bring up such a thing as the intense media attention she got for flashing some leg.

“And the people I surround myself with don’t really talk about that kind of stuff. [Laughs],” she says.

“I heard something, but I didn’t pay any attention. It’s as simple as being a woman picking a dress you like and having a night, and not really thinking about anything else,” the star adds.

While Angelina is choosing to play it cool, several high profile figures openly criticized her for her appearance at the Oscars, Dr. Drew and Joan Rivers being just two of them.

The former picked on the actress / director for her weight, claiming she must be “severely malnourished,” while the latter criticized her for the leg pose in particular, arguing that Jolie had tossed down the drain years of good PR work with this “desperate cry for attention.”

Their words fell on deaf ears, as far as Angelina is concerned.
