Angelina Jolie slaps Brad Pitt with an adultery clause in their prenuptial agreement

This is the part that you never get to see on TV and in the lovely wedding photos – the harsh battle for the prenup and the crazy clauses that end up in such agreements, especially if both the partners stand to lose a lot in case of a divorce. Angelina Jolie finally married Brad Pitt in a secret French ceremony, but not before she made him sign a prenuptial agreement which also includes an adultery clause.

Radar reports that Angelina was “heavily encouraged by her lawyers” to add an adultery clause in their prenuptial agreement, which he finally signed off on. An insider revealed the conditions of the clause, “If Brad gets too serious with another woman while they are married, she'll get primary custody if they split.”

In case Brad Pitt cheats on her, Angelina gets custody of the children

The source claims that this clause was set in place not to protect Angelina, but to protect their children, and that it does not have anything to do with money. As it was previously reported, both the actors have done very well in their lives, having a joint net worth of $425 million (€328,7 million), with Brad having the somewhat larger piece of the pie.

In case of a divorce, the couple have decided to each take what they brought into the marriage, each with his or her millions. The money they make while being married is said to go into their children's trust fund, wherefrom it's going to be divided six ways.

The prenup also states that each partner takes back what they had originally in case of a divorce, the rest goes to the kids

The same source points out that, in case of a divorce, none of the partners would be able to receive any of the money they made during their time together, nor would they be able to give it to their new partners. It would all go to the children. The arrangement is said to have been worked out in such a way that it “really seemed like the fairest way to go about it.”

Apart from making their prenup, Angelina and Brad have also written their respective wills, and in them, they left most of the money to their children yet again. Also, several millions from their earnings are earmarked to go to orphanages “in each of the countries where they adopted kids.”

Angelina set aside some money for a cancer research charity as well. The actress shocked the world last year when she announced that she had undergone a double mastectomy, so now she claims she “knows better than anyone that life can throw all sorts of unexpected turns at you.”

The adultery clause sounds like Angelina learned her lesson from the Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston divorce. After all, if a married man leaves his wife for another woman, who's to say he won't do it again?
