“Unbroken” is a historical drama that tells the story of Louis Zamperini, a man who grows up from a trouble-maker into an Olympic champion, and later a World War 2 hero. The movie has just released its first trailer which also features real-life Zamperini, now 97.

Jolie has been working on this project in Australia for some time now, and has been making headlines with her second directorial effort. The movie is based on the book by Lauran Hillenbrand's 2010 book, “Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption.”

The movie follows Zamperini's adventures as he becomes a prisoner of war in Japan, after he drifted for 47 days on the Pacific Ocean, following the crash of his plane. The role of Zamperini is played by Jack O'Connell.

The trailer is rather unusual because it follows the pattern of a documentary instead of the usual style for a motion picture, showing historical footage and photos from the real life of Zamperini, thus breaking the barrier between fiction and reality.

The film is billed for release in the United States on December 25, Christmas Day.
