The love story between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt is going to be reshaped for the big screen in the movie “By the Sea,” which is written and directed by Jolie. The couple may have tied the knot recently in real life, but their newest project sees them going through the tribulations of unfulfilled love.

Angelina and Brad are no strangers to on-screen romance, having played husband and wife in the movie “Mr. And Mrs. Smith” back in 2005. In fact, it was this movie that set off their romance and caused Pitt to divorce Jennifer Aniston in order to get with Angelina.

Angelina Jolie looks vintage-cool in first “By the Sea” photos

The photos released from the film show a seductively-looking Angelina, with light bangs, while playing the role of a 1970s dancer who falls in love with an American writer played by Pitt.

The movie is being shot on locations in Malta and it's said to have already taken over the small neighboring island of Gozo, where the Jolie-Pitt couple and their film crew have already closed off a public beach until the end of November with the help of local authorities.

Rumors were rampant that the celebrity couple was also paying off local business owners and residents to temporarily move away from the region so that they could have the entire area for themselves. There hasn't been any official confirmation of this though.

The film is going to be set in 1970s France

According to Entertainment Weekly, which published the photos, the plot of the film is set to take place in 1970s France, when Jolie is Vanessa, a former dancer, and Pitt is her husband Roland, an American writer.

Angelina said about the film, which she wrote and is directing, the following: “I chose to set By the Sea in the 1970s, not only because it is a colorful and alluring era, but because it removes many of the distractions of contemporary life and allows the focus to remain squarely on the emotions that the characters experience in their journey.”

This might very well be Angelina's last time on screen, because in previous interviews she has expressed her wish to give up her acting career in favor a permanent job as a director.

Not everyone is a fan of the film though, although the project is garnering significant attention from the media, which would ensure a healthy box office income in the end. Some experts have foretold that the movie is going to be a flop, much like Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman's “Eye Wide Shut” film was in cinemas.
