Over the weekend, whether to infirm ongoing rumors or simply because that was what they wanted, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt put in a public appearance together, at the Directors Guild of America awards. They did not pose for pictures, but one of Angelina signing an autograph was more than enough for experts to determine that she’s under tremendous stress and pressure, as Us Magazine writes.

Though the two refused to do the red carpet together or to answer any question from the media, because, understandably, that would have meant they would have had to address the breakup rumor, there are a couple of pictures of Angelina at the event, and a couple with Brad as well. In one of them, Jolie is signing an autograph for a fan and, because her signature is clearly visible, it has allowed experts to conclude that she’s not in a very happy place right now.

“The long extended final stroke of her last name ‘can add up to feeling pressured, with a need to protect oneself,’ handwriting expert Sheila Lowe tells Us Magazine. (Similarly, Patti Stanger of Bravo’s Millionaire Matchmaker recently told Us that Jolie ‘shows possessiveness and a desire not to lose Brad... but defensive [body language] in case she does.’)” the mag writes.

“Continues Lowe of Jolie, ‘Hers has always been an extremely simplified signature, and this one is even more so. It’s like shorthand. It could be a result of stress, the need to keep things on the surface and simple. The extremely long, rightward ending stroke is symbolic of holding others at bay. Think of an outstretched arm: Stand back!’ (She also points out that signatures can be more difficult to decipher when written quickly.)” the same publication goes on to say.

However, not all experts the tab has spoken to are of the same opinion. Bart Baggett, creator of the Handwriting Wizard, for instance, says, the signature indicates a very strong and healthy ego, but also a person who has learned a lesson in compromise and humility. Far from showing signs of the demise of a relationship, her handwriting would rather suggest that her ego is still strong, which means she’s still with Brad Pitt, Baggett explains.
