14 DAY TRIAL // Although George Clooney has just gotten married and the entire media is still gushing about how lovely the whole ceremony was (the first official photos have just landed online), Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt somehow managed to steal the spotlight with a very expensive gift.
As you may or may not know, Angelina and Brad tied the knot in a secret ceremony in France just recently, so it was time to celebrate their union after that very long engagement with some expensive gifting.
Angelina expresses her love for Brad with a solid platinum vintage watch
The Mirror claims that Angie bought her new husband a solid platinum watch of vintage edition, a 1952 Philippe Patek that is said to be worth a staggering $3 million (€2,3 million). And just to add that little touch of class, it looks like Angelina had the watch engraved with a special message for her husband.
Don't go thinking it's something cheesy, some corny pet name, the actors kept it classy, with Angie's message reading “To Roly from Nessa.” You might be wondering who, in God's name, are Roly and Nessa. Well, after a little bit of digging, it turns out that Roly and Nessa are the names of the characters the two actors are playing in their latest movie, “By the Sea.”
The film is still being shot at the moment in Malta, and it's being written and directed by Angelina. It's supposed to be a love story set in ‘70s France, between a local dancer and an American writer.
The watch was engraved by a local jeweler with the coded names
The entire thing was exposed when George Farrugia, 57, the owner of a jewelers shop on the island of Gozo, the very place where filming on “By the Sea” is taking place as we speak, told the press that he did the engraving and that the watch was for Brad.
You couldn't be faulted for getting the jitters when holding such an expensive watch, but the jeweler had no problems inscribing it, “I wasn’t nervous about the inscription because I knew I could do the work perfectly,” he boasted.
The couple seems to be at an all-time high in their relationship, seemingly more in love than ever. They are also trying to stay out of the lime light as much as possible, as they are reported to have asked the local authorities on Gozo to shut down a public beach until November.
People were anxious to see the newlyweds at Clooney's wedding over the weekend, seeing as how George and Brad are good friends, but it seems work might have gotten in the way of that plan, as both Brad and Angie were MIA at the nuptials.
Later reports indicated that the couple did send out an expensive bottle of wine as a gift for George and Amal, along with the best wishes and an explanation as to why they couldn't attend. Evil rumors suggested that the real reason was the fact that Angelina dreaded running into Jennifer Aniston at the wedding, since she was also supposed to have been invited. Aniston didn't show up either.
