14 DAY TRIAL // Keeping track of Angelina Jolie’s impressive collection of body art can prove an endeavor worthy of a true fan, unless, of course, the star herself agrees to talk about a new piece. Unfortunately, this is not the case for a new tattoo she rocks on her thigh in a pictorial for the latest issue of Vanity Fair magazine, of which she will only say she got it “for Brad.”
The actress uses tattoos to mark important events in her life, such as a commitment to a lover (a tattoo she got for Billy Bob Thornton and that she had removed since they broke up), the birth of her children or the location of the country she adopts them from. In the latest issue of Vanity Fair, Angelina appears dressed in leather hotpants and leather boots, putting on display a new ink on her inner thigh. Asked by MTV what it is the meaning behind it, Angelina plays it coy.
“MTV News caught up with the star this week in Washington, D.C., where Jolie was promoting ‘Salt,’ and we had to ask about the tattoo. But the actress was tight-lipped about what the ink, on her inner thigh, actually said. ‘Um, it’s for Brad,’ Jolie demurred with a smile. […] While we won’t speculate on the content of her latest tattoo (that’s what the zoom feature on Photoshop is for), the balance of Jolie’s tattoos more or less chronicle her romantic history, and offer some insight into her philosophies about love and life. On her shoulder, for instance, is a Buddhist Pali incantation that offers such wisdom as ‘if you acquire riches, may they remain yours always,’ and on her hip is a Latin inscription: ‘quod me nutrit me destruit,’ which translates to ‘what nourishes me, destroys me’,” MTV writes.
The Frisky set out to the solve the riddle and see what Angie’s newest tattoo reads, but, so far, it has come up with nothing. “The blogosphere has worked itself into a tizzy trying to figure out what the tattoo actually says. My guesses? Ahem: ‘Whisky & Beer,’ ‘Whisky Boy,’ or ‘Wiley Beard.’ Seriously, I have been staring at Angie’s perfect thighs for over 15 minutes now, and that’s the best I can come up with,” the e-zine says. Other voices on the net also claim the tattoo reads either “Whisky & Beer” or “Mister Brad.”
What is certain right now is that there are two words inked on Angelina’s inner thigh. Fans can only hope she will discuss more about this once she goes on the talk show circuit. Until then, they only have to guess – no prizes for those who get it right, though.
