We all thought that Angelina Jolie was over her quirky phase, that she was now a grown-up and a responsible mother, no longer the rebel that used to collect knives, fantasized about cutting herself and made out with her brother at the Oscars. It turns out there's still a little streak of odd left in her.

The famous actress, who has recently married her fiancé Brad Pitt in a secret ceremony in France, has revealed in an interview with Marie Claire Magazine that not only is she still in contact with the spirit of her dead mother, but she's helping her raise her children.

Angelina was affected by her mother's death, claims to still be "in contact" with her

Angie's mother, Marcheline Bertrand, died in 2007, aged 56, after a bout with cancer. At the time, Angelina was deeply affected and her friends became concerned with her health as she dropped a lot of weight and was said to have returned to doing hard drugs.

Since then, Angelina has overcome her grief, but only by claiming she's still in touch with her late mother. She said that “I feel in contact with my mother when I look at my children. I can feel her influence over me then.”

She added, “I see that my way of raising them resembles the way she raised my brother and I. It’s more apparent with my daughter’s Shiloh and Vivienne. My mother is there, present in this influence all the time.”

Detailing about the qualities that make a mother great, Angelina pointed out that her own mother was the ideal for her, “that mix of softness and strength.”

While some might find the spirit of a departed dear one lurking over the living members of the family as very odd, Angelina seems to be perfectly content to be in contact with the other realm. The 39-year-old actress has sparked controversy in the past, but this time she might have crossed the spiritual line.

Recently, the actress came under fire from the media, due to some leaked videos from her youth which showed her in a drug den. Jolie owned up to the fact that she had a wild youth and that she has gotten over that phase. Husband Brad Pitt, 50, was said to have been infuriated by the leaked videos but it's likely that he knew about their existence.

These days, the couple is busy filming their latest project, a love story called “By the Sea.” The film is written and directed by Angelina Jolie and it's shooting in Malta, where locals are beginning to get tired of the film crew taking over their island.
