The Brangelina split and, equally important, the question of whether Brad Pitt will be returning to ex-wife Jennifer Aniston now that he’s free from Angelina Jolie, is undeniably the hottest story this week, as
Cover Awards can confirm. All major US weeklies have unveiled their respective covers for the latest issue and, not surprisingly at all, they all focus on the Brangelina – Aniston triangle.
Though they haven’t even confirmed breaking up, Brad and Angelina are history as far as US tabs are concerned. In fact, a couple of them claim, he’s so sick of being Jolie’s puppet on a string that he’s making the first step towards regaining his long lost freedom by getting back with Aniston, from whom he got divorced shortly after going into the Jolie affair, yet another rumor all three stars have denied repeatedly these past few years. Not that denials matter anymore at this point for these publications.
For instance, Us Weekly writes that Brad and Angelina broke up after a long while of “screaming fights” and Jolie constantly telling him, the father of her babies, that he couldn’t do anything right. At the same time, the cover hints that Aniston too might have played some part in the unexpected breakup, with a headline that cryptically reads, “What happened with Jen at the Telethon,” in reference to the Hope for Haiti telethon that took place over the weekend, and where both Pitt and Aniston were present.
InTouch goes even further than that, with a bold headline reading “Yes, It’s Over! How Jen Split Them,” and a suggestion that it has confirmation of it straight from Brangelina’s housekeeper. The tab then goes on to claim that Jennifer has already met the six children Brad and Angie have together, and has managed to break them up by keeping in touch with her ex, who used to call her in the dead of night. InTouch also promises an explanation for why Brangelina’s friends think everything is just fine.
Last but not least, Star magazine tries a different approach, with a picture of Jennifer Aniston and the caption “Jen Tells Brad: ‘I’ll Take You Back!’” Underneath it, readers are promised the following: “Their emotional face-to-face reunion; Secret trip to Santa Barbara; PLUS Angie’s other lovers.” In short, the tabloids are having a field day with the rumored breakup between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie – the same split that might
not even have happened, for all we know.
