A-list couple fetched this impressive amount on their wedding photos

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are showing all those celebrities out there still dousing themselves with ice water and not donating money to charity how such good deeds are done: the two fetched an impressive $5 million (€3.86 million) for their wedding photos and have donated the entire amount to charity.

After years of speculation and false hints from the A-list couple, Brad and Angelina tied the knot in secret, in a very intimate ceremony held at their French estate. Only about 20 people were in attendance, including their 6 children, who played a very important role in the planning of the ceremony, from the bride’s veil to the cake that was served at the reception afterwards.

Also present at the ceremony was one photographer who shot the portraits that were then published in People magazine and the British tab Hello magazine. Each set of photos went for $2.5 million (€1.93 million), HollywoodGossip reports.

Before you think how greedy these two actors were for charging this much, think of it this way: by contracting a photographer for photos that they later sold to magazines of their choice, they assumed control over the way in which these shots got out in the press. The report notes that they picked a photographer they knew and trusted, whose previous work was for Getty.

More importantly, by doing this, they made a lot of money which they will donate to charity. “Instead of pocketing their millions, however, Pitt and Jolie will donate it to a ‘charitable foundation,’ this same source confirms,” the e-zine says.

This isn’t the first time that the famous Brangelina couple does something like this. In 2008, for instance, they made a reported $14 million (€10.8 million) off the pictures of twins Knox and Vivienne, which they also donated to charity.

Angelina and Brad’s gesture is putting to shame all those celebrities who did the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge as a means to attract attention onto themselves, instead of just donating money to the ALS Association and thus actually contribute to finding a cure for the disease.

Actor Sir Patrick Stewart did the same when he also posted an ALS Ice Bucket Challenge video, but instead of offering fans footage of himself drenched in ice water, he only showed them a video in which he was writing a check. He used the ice to pour himself a drink.

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is the latest viral trend: once you’re nominated, you have 24 hours either to pour a bucket of ice water on your head or donate money to the ALS Association. Sadly, too many celebrities chose the former, riding on the coattails of what is an otherwise admirable campaign to bring attention onto themselves.

In case you missed it at the time it was posted online, below is Patrick Stewart’s very classy, very admirable version of the challenge. With more celebrities like himself and Brad and Angie, the world would be a much better place, don’t you agree?
