Angelina Jolie has been surrounded by controversy ever since she got her big break in the industry, be it for her outspoken attitude towards sex, the collection of knives she takes so much pride in, her many tattoos or for her tumultuous personal life. Now that she and her partner Brad Pitt are in the process of legally adopting yet another child - a Vietnamese orphan she already took into her home - the last thing she would need would be for her brother to come and shoot his big mouth to all the tabloids.
Usually, Angelina is very open and frank in her interviews, but there's one thing that she always refuses to talk about: her life as a child and the relationship she had with her estranged father, John Voight. Either her brother, James, is not aware of this or he's too eager to get some spotlight for himself for a change. Or his words are completely taken out of context.
Either way, 'The Daily Mail' has an exclusive interview with James, an actor and a model who never quite managed to step out of his sister's shadow, and it does include a couple of things that maybe should not have been there. Aside from the fact that James talks about growing up with an abusive and negligent father in a way that Angie would never condone (she has always refrained from saying what caused the rift between her and the man she no longer considers her father), the interview also contains details about a relationship that has often been cataloged by the media as at least intense.
Smiling, James explains that he and Angie have always been very close, because they grew up in a divided family, permanently looking for a father that was never there. 'She's always been very protective of me with regards to my romantic life, which I love. She wants me to be with the right woman. When you come from a divorced home, divorce is what you desperately want to avoid.', he says.
However, James adds, the reason for which he is still single is because he's still too influenced by Angelina to make his own mind about his perfect woman. While he says that she is not a control-freak or some authoritative figure, as she has been described in the press, Haven openly admits to being 100 percent under his sister's power.
'Maybe I haven't found the right woman because my sister is too picky for me. Any woman has to go through two filters, me and then my sister. I'm a perfectionist by nature. Then, because I'm so close to Angie it's like I've already got the perfect woman in my life and it's hard for anyone else to live up to that. I go to Angie for advice and won't do anything without her because we were so close as children', James tells the newspaper.
Be that as it may, the good looking actor says that their brotherly love and its displays of affection have been misrepresented in the media, all because of that now famous 2000 Oscar kiss. Which, by the way, he says was not with tongue. 'I did not give Angie a French kiss, it was something simple and lovely. She was about to go off to Mexico to finish filming "Original Sin" with Antonio Banderas. I congratulated her on the Oscar win and gave her a quick kiss on the lips. It was snapped and became a big thing round the world.', James explains.
