It seems that this month is all about appointing new coaches. While Andy Roddick managed to convince Jimmy Connors to train him before the US Open - and maybe after - another Andy (Murray) sealed the deal with Andre Agassi former coach, Brad Gilbert. The man who managed to get Agassi on top of the ATP world and helped Roddick to clinch his first US Open title decided to give it a shot with the Britain's teenager.
And Andy Murray sure is a promising young talent. The Scot managed to eliminate the same Andy Roddick in this year's 3rd round at the All England Club and is considered one of Great Britain's main talents in the world of tennis. The 36-ranked Murray seems determined to start a new episode in his professional life, since he has been without coach for about 3 months.
"While growing up, Agassi was one of the players I looked up to. He won several grand slams and reached number one in the world with Brad so I am delighted to now have Brad as my coach. Back in April, I set a very high standard for what my next coach needed to have in terms of experience and Brad meets all the requirements to guide the next stage of my tennis career", said Andy Murray about his next coach.
On the other hand, Brad Gilbert is very confident that Murray will have a strong saying in the world of sports. His accepting the job should be reason enough for the tennis fans to realize that Murray is a great talent. "I am really looking forward to working with Andy as he is one of the most talented young players on the tour. I am also looking forward to working at the LTA and it is great to see Roger Draper making changes for the benefit of British tennis", said Gilbert.
Andy Murray will begin his US Open preparation next week.
