Google’s Android operating system is set to get better in the not too distant future, with the addition of native support for Bluetooth Smart Ready and Bluetooth Smart devices before the end of this year, Google announced yesterday.

The feature will be included in an upcoming flavor of the mobile platform, and all devices that will have it, along with a dual-mode Bluetooth chip, will qualify as Bluetooth Smart Ready.

The availability of the feature will also provide Bluetooth Smart developers with the possibility to connect their devices and to start distributing applications within the Android ecosystem.

Devs will no longer need “to write to multiple APIs for multiple Bluetooth Smart Ready implementations from various Android OEMs. Now they have a single, native API (Android’s SDK) to write to and connect to millions of devices,” a post on the Bluetooth Blog reads.
