One of the appealing features that Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system came to the market with back in 2010 was support for Xbox LIVE, which provided users with the possibility to enjoy great gaming on the small screen of their smartphones.

The feature proved a success among Windows Phone users, and it appears that Microsoft is gearing up for making Xbox Live available for other mobile operating systems as well.

Of course, Xbox LIVE is not only about having games available for Windows Phone devices, but also involves social, casual and hardcore gaming.

All these should soon become available for a wider range of mobile phone users, a recent job listing on Microsoft’s website confirms.

The Redmond-based company is looking for an engineer to join its Xbox LIVE Mobile team in an attempt to make that happen.

“Xbox LIVE Mobile team is looking for a passionate and experienced developer to join us brining [sic] Xbox LIVE entertainment experiences to various mobile platforms,” Microsoft explains in the job post.

“As the team inside IEB (Interactive Entertainment Business) dedicated to mobile experiences, we work closely with console software team and Xbox LIVE services team to bring the latest and greatest gaming and entertainment experience to mobile platforms including Windows Phone, iOS and other mobile platforms.”

Chances are that Microsoft will also make as series of changes to the Xbox LIVE platform before pushing it to other mobile devices out there.

“As a software development engineer on the team, you will have the opportunity to help define and design the experiences for the project, you will get to work with a team of energetic and talented developers, and you will have the luxury to work with all sorts of mobile devices to create the official Xbox LIVE mobile experiences,” the job listing reads.

We should note that this is only one of the mobile products that Microsoft plans to make available on a variety of platforms this year. Recently, the company confirmed that it was looking into launching more multi-platform mobile software in 2012, though it did not offer specific info on them.
