Android Wear just received its first big update not so long ago, which added GPS support and music playback, but given that Android 5.0 Lollipop has been rolled into the wild for tablets and smartphones, the new build is bound to impact smartwatches too.

Phandroid has managed to get a hold of information detailing novelties that Lollipop will bring to the Android Wear table, and in what follows we’re going to be telling you about them.

Watch Battery & Storage pages are further enhanced

The Watch battery page is quite similar to what you can found in the similar section on your tablet and smartphone. So now you get a battery life estimate and you’ll be able to see which apps are gnawing away at your battery life.

On top of that, there’s a Watch storage monitor section which clearly shows you which app takes up the most storage. And the Debugging over Bluetooth function has also made a comeback.

Official APIs for watch faces becomes available

This might be the biggest improvement that Lollipop will bring to Android Wear. This means users will be able to change their watch face directly from the smartphone companion app.

The new face API allows you to customize watchfaces directly on the watch itself. Moreover, weather notifications can now be directly displayed on the watch face, without you having to swipe looking for the weather card.

Bringing back dismissed cards

It probably happened to you by now – dismissing a notification card because you were in a hurry and acted out of impulse.

Well, the new update will allow you to recover these “lost” cards by virtue of swiping upwards, an action that will prompt the “undo” option.

Screen brightness gets more options

The new software adds Theater mode and Sunlight mode, so when you are at the cinema, your bright wrist screen won’t disturb others trying to watch a movie.

Or in the opposite direction, Sunlight mode could make it easier for you to read on the display while being in an environment enjoying natural light.

Android Wear becomes easier to access

Google is thinking of those of us who have to live with certain vision impairments, so the update brings the possibility of making text larger and ads color inversion and magnification gestures.

OK Google

Last but not least, OK Google also got a little makeover. The main action menu will now displaying action based on your recent habits, something that has been available for Google Glass for a while now.

The main action menu should launched by virtue of a screen tap or by saying “OK Google” when the screen is active.
