Google’s Android operating system might have lost Andy Rubin, but it did manage to storm the smartphone market since brought to shelves back in 2008.

According to the latest numbers released by Google, over 750 million devices have been activated with Android loaded on top all around the world, and the number keeps on growing.

Furthermore, the Internet giant notes that users have downloaded over 25 billion apps from its Google Play store, a rather impressive figure, that’s for sure.

“Having exceeded even the crazy ambitious goals we dreamed of for Android—and with a really strong leadership team in place—Andy’s decided it’s time to hand over the reins and start a new chapter at Google,” the company said in a blog post.

With over 60 manufacturers already committed to Android, and with new highly appealing devices set to hit shelves soon, the platform is expected to grow further, at least for a few years more.
